I'm really excited about the new imacs. I'm currently on a 2008 base model imac and I use the computer mostly to play games and surf the web/email/youtube/netflix/etc.

I'm really only playing diablo 3 (very rarely -- it's not that fun!), starcraft 2, and world of warcraft.

My OCD/neurosis wants me to get the upgraded i7, the extra RAM, and the fusion drive. My bank account is protesting mightily. What upgrades should i get if that's all I do with my computer?

None. The base model of the 27" will run those games a lot better than your current iMac.

But if I were you I'd upgrade the RAM. Just because it's so cheap and you can never have too much.

Tell your ocd to buy this one...

-21" 2.9GHz i5 (must have this model in order to get fusion drive) $1499
-upgrade ram from 8 gig to 16 gig (not user upgradeable latter,so best to get 16 gig's now) $200
-1 TB fusion drive $250
=$1949

or

-27" 2.9GHz i5 base model $1799
-can upgrade ram yourself (base is 8 gigs)
-yet unknown if one can upgrade 7200rpm sata hd themselves?
=$1799 (plus cost of 8 gig user installed ram)

if you're going for the 21 inch, i'd get the high end model and get a 1tb fusion drive in it. personally think you'd be better off keeping the ram at 8gb, do you think you'll really ever need more than 8?
