Found my old classic
If i plug it in i get a faint screen that says charging( like its out of batteries) but if I leave it plugged in for an extended period of time it never fully turns on. Its probably the battery and it needs to be replaced. Is there any other possibility of a problem? I don't want to shell out the 60 bucks to have apple replace the battery if there is something else wrong with it.

Even if the battery is dead, it should turn on while plugged in. Is it possible you're plugging it into the PC, and it's syncing? Try charging it from a wall plug if possible.
