When buying used Verizon 4S what to look for?

so my boyfriend is buying a verizon 4s to use in australia when we go next month. He's meeting the person in a verizon store, to make sure it has a clean esn. What else should he enquire about to make sure the phone works, can be unlocked and isn't a scam.

Make sure the buttons and charging port work, try a call and use it for a minute. As long as you do that and it's activated with the seller at the store, I don't think you'll have any problems. I buy and sell a lot on Craigslist and that's how I do it every time. I've never had a problem in the last 3 or 4 years I've been buying/selling/trading through Craigslist.

Aslong as the ESN is good and it's not reported stolen everything should be ok.
