Google and MRoogle turn up a lot of results for macbook pro yellow screen, but they all tend to be about tinted screens. My problem is different
Occasionally, especially when opening or changing page in an app with large white spaces (safari, calendar etc) I get a weird yellow check pattern over the white or light coloured areas.
This pattern goes as soon as the pixels are refreshed, eg. scrolling even slightly, or trying to take a screenshot of the section. But not when the mouse travels over the area.
You can see the pattern from the attached picture, the big white rectangle is where I tried to screenshot it but then I took a whole screen shot. Seems this isn't directly a hardware issue or it wouldn't show up on the screenshot?
Bit of background: Mid 2010 MBP with 2 different OSX partitions (same problems on both partitions) Also occasionally (like 1 in 3 times) when I power up the machine it kernel panics (regardless of partition) and restarts and is usually fine the second time. Even less often (hasn't happened in a couple of months) when I use an app that accesses the internet (usually safari, although it has been mail) it crashes and the crash dump says thread 0 crashed plus a load of other stuff.
Sorry for the essay, hope someone can give me some clues. None of these problems make my laptop at all unusable and I'm loathed to take the hour drive out of my way to the apple store unless I have to, or have a chance of getting a free new laptop!
