Replace iPod touch battery?

So I was on eBay and I found this item:

It's a battery replacement for the iPod touch 3rd gen and mine doesn't hold a long charge anymore.

I can replace the battery, but my question is, has anyone done that before? Did the new battery worked and improved your iPod? Is it worth it?

as long as you can solder well you should see good results.

I can tell you, it's not an easy job to tear open an iPod Touch without breaking anything. Good luck with that.

There are a lot of stories online of these cheap batteries exploding or catching fire while being charged. I wouldn't attempt it myself.

You can get a new battery installed by Apple for $79 plus $6.95 shipping. That's the way I would go.

Which makes you think... who would get an iPod shuffle battery replacement when you can get a new one for the same price.

It's my old iPod touch 3rd generation, I have a newer one and I would never pay that much to get my battery exchanged!

I saw I whole bunch of guides, videos, and reviews of people who have done, and my conclusion is that if you know how to do it, then it shouldn't have a problem
