I purchased a mbp yesterday from Best Buy and used Migration Assistant to restore all of my apps, music, documents, etc. Everything looks perfect except I'm currently running 10.7 and I'm almost positive it should be 10.8.

Am I to do a restore all over again? Do I need to purchase ML from the app store?

Any help is appreciated.

You probably did a complete restore including system files so that's probably the reason it shows 10.7.
Go into recovery (Command-R) and choose internet recovery, if the machine came with 10.8 you get a free copy.
Edit: Which Model. No.

It's the base 13 inch with i5.
The recovery mode gives me the option to repair Lion, not Mountain Lion. Hm.

Do you know what version of OS X the MBP was running when you first purchased it? It looks like it was old stock that Best Buy had, and was manufactured pre 10.8. You can upgrade to 10.8 via Apple's up to date program for free. The Migration Assistant will not downgrade your version of the OS.

I guess it was old stock. I'm not sure because I didn't pay too much attention and went directly into the migration.

Thanks for your help everyone.
