What's yer budget? I'm throwing together a budger rig for my gf for xmas (seeing her on that p166 is too much for me to bare).

no no no, you've got this all wrong. Encourage him to buy the TiBook, then when he realizes it's not a great gaming machine, offer to trade it for your services of building him a PC. then you've got a tibook

It seems like a shady site.. but I have a lotta PC friends who buy machines from here.. GREAT deals and TOTALLY customizable.. I might be doing the same.. building like a 800 dollar PC gaming machine.. maybe someday Apple users won't have to go to these extremes if Apple pushed developers to make more mac games and graphics cards... if you wanted to categorize Apple's biggest weaknesses .. the gaming industry is probably it. despite what Steve says.

eight hundred dollars just to build a game system?
why not just get a ps2 or xcube.

i know quite a few people who have bought computers through cyberpower

they are very happy with their PCs and the service...except one ordered a computer with a new processor and the company neglected to mention that the processor would not be available for another month....

First check out a few of the part chop shops if you want to build it yourself. Also don't always think Birght Colors, and a KooLz name make a pc any better or worth more.

I would recommend a Gigabyte board, and would stay clear of Abit as they tend to have higher failure rates, and well Abits tech support leaves alot to be desired.

That new nVidia card sounds pretty obscene. I would love to have one of those.

thats so true, and its the one thing i've missed the most since switching to an ibook... :-(
..though the games that i do play on here run a ton better...but thats just cause my old pc was pretty bad. ...its not even a problem with macs that they can't run them...my little ibook can run a lot of really good games very well..and i don't even have the new 32 vid card! its just that isn't ANY games for it (compared with pc)..and i have not found 1 single racing game...you guys know of any?? besides 4x4 evolution

there must be some new games the tibook does well

building a PC is the most flexible for gaming, but these days, not much of a savings...if at all

but i live in northern california near silicon valley where there are unsurpassed super discount stores that sell new PCs cheaper than i can find parts for separately...and i am a PC tech

the only person i can actually see building a PC would be a gamer since many of the PC companies offer some pretty impressive BTO options and are only weeks behind in getting the latest video cards

but still some people like the customization aspect of making a machine and in the gamer's cases i know of, they could have bought almost an identical machine already built with a three year warranty

but there is something to be said for being a proud parent of a frankenstein and i like a lot of those custom glass and colored plastic cases
