Sounds like you can make some money from the ram, get what you want, and have enough for a nice lunch.

Do it.
And I recommend bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Your current memory is not worth $260. OWC have it listed at that price because it is an old part that they have no need to update the price on. You can go on eBay.ca and buy 12GB of ECC DDR3 for $60.

I know what I paid for it and I see what OWC is still selling it for, so reselling the RAM should be no problem for me, especially in Canada. Same goes for Apple RAM, it has a high resale value because Apple charges a lot for it, of course, you can still buy random branded RAM which does the same thing as Apple ram for a significantly lower price.
Memory is not like a car, it is a cheap mass produced item that works at full performance or doesn't at all. OWC have not dropped the price on this item because they replaced it with a different module when unbuffered 4GB DIMMs became available at good prices. Namely this part http://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/8566D3ECC4GB/

Just giving you a heads up is all. OWC's pricing has nothing to do with the value of the part now. If you can get some chump to pay all that for it, well fair play to you.
