680MX Benchmarks please
Glad to see everyone is starting to receive their 27" iMacs. I guess I'm shocked that there still is just about zero benchmarks on the 680MX and it's available to the public. (See notebookcheck)
So far the 680MX is the best mobile graphics chip on the market, and exclusive to Apple. Now that the 27" iMac is available to the public, please feel free to share any benchmarks you can (not Geekbench). 3DMark would be great! No one knows what to expect of this card yet and I think a lot of us are interested to see what it's capable of! Thanks! |

I'll do one. What do I need to download to do the benchmark, though?

HOOOOOOOOOLY CRAP ITS POWERFUL
Just got done installing Arkham City in bootcamp and its SOOO much smoother than on my old 27 from last year. I'll tweak the settings a bit but I'm getting 55-62 FPS at native rez in the built-in benchmark. I could have sworn I was averaging around 23-30 on my model from last year. Arkham city always chugged but I wanted to play it so badly so I dealt with sub-par performance on my old 27. Seriously unless I am mistaken, that is close to a 2x increase in graphics performance from the 1gb 6970 to the 2gb 680mx. Yes, nvidia vs Ati architecture could be a factor, but this is at least 50-75% better. Gonna install 3D mark in steam to get some official numbers between the machines. Also, the screen is just so much better. The glare has been removed and the colors are much more vibrant. I just can't believe how much I absolutely adore this machine. |

Nvidia's site also has some bench marks of their own, but they aren't as comprehensive as most, usually aimed to specific tests of features. Still anything would be great to know. In your opinion, any comments on the yellow, light bleed etc... with the screen? Also ditto the i5 or i7 question. :P Thanks for all the info you can give.

Had to grab a bit of sleep while steam downloaded a bunch of stuff on both systems. For the time being here are some geekbench benchmarks. 3D Mark is coming as soon as I can.

I'd rather see it being pushed by the latest mac games like Borderlands 2 and Portal 2 (though we all know that will run smooth anyway). Then I'd like to see some boot camp games which could be the batman benchmark, battlefield 3, crysis 2 perhaps? Hitman, farcry 3 etc. I'd do the benchmarks but I'm having to wait till the first week of 2013 for mine. |

If someone does do benchmarks, it would be also be highly appreciated if we could get some numbers of the temperatures inside the computer during GPU load.

I am comparing this year's high-end GPU with GPUs I've been used in the past.
And, wow! Using the ranking found on notebookcheck.net benchmark list. 7 - 2012 GTX 680MX 210 - 2012 HD Graphics 4000 241 - 2008 GeForce 9600M GT 254 - 2010 GeForce 320M 280 - 2008 GeForce 8600M GT 282 - 2011 HD Graphics 3000 354 - 2006 Radeon HD 2400 XT 368 - 2003 Radeon X1600 |

3DMark Benchmarks!
Sorry for the tardiness, my FIOS took a dump about 4 hours ago. >_> (What are the chances, I've never raged harder.) Here are my first run benchmarks from 3DMark on both my 27" 2011 fully loaded iMac, and my new 27" 2012 fully loaded. Get the Depends ready folks... [EDIT] 2012 Geforce 680mx (w/ current Nvidia 310.70 beta drivers)..........6883 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5212798 Over 2x the performance from 2011 model, WOW! [/EDIT] 2012 Geforce 680mx (w/ stock Apple bootcamp drivers)..........6333 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5212432 2011 Ati 6970m..........3287 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/5212575 OH.MY.GOD!!!!!!!!!!!! This GPU is literally the sickest piece of tech I've had a chance to get my hands on in any Apple device in the past 20 years. (OK, maybe the G5 rocketing to 2ghz at release comes close. ) We are talking about literally DOUBLE the performance though. It looks like Apple kept this one stock as well, as it runs at the same clocks as standard NVidia parts (720mhz CPU, 2500mhz Memory). There are a few updated drivers available so I'm going to retest with the latest official drivers and the current beta drivers and will report back here. And for what its worth, the Nvidia website blows the ATI website out of the water. Really, if you work for ATI, you need to examine how incredibly amazing the NV website is and how quickly they turn around drivers and hotfixes. They even have tweak guides and give you examples of what the best settings are for your hardware. Here is my detailed info. [Display] Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit (Service Pack 1) DirectX version: 11.0 GPU processor: GeForce GTX 680MX Driver version: 306.37 DirectX support: 11.1 CUDA Cores: 1536 Core clock: 719 MHz Memory data rate: 5000 MHz Memory interface: 256-bit Total available graphics memory: 4095 MB Dedicated video memory: 2048 MB GDDR5 System video memory: 0 MB Shared system memory: 2047 MB Video BIOS version: 80.04.59.01.01 IRQ: 16 Bus: PCI Express x16 Gen3 Last edited by Fenn; Dec 13, 2012 at 07:25 AM. |

Looks like the 2012 iMac with the 680mx is the real deal for gaming. To benchmark those scores in the iMacs slim chassis is really quite impressive.
Hurry up Monday!!!
