My daughter dropped her iPhone 5 in the toilet today. I have vacuumed each end well and submerged the phone in a bag of rice. I am going to let it sit for about 2 days.

If it does not work after that can she get it replaced at an Apple store. It has been less than 90 days since purchase. If so what would the cost be? We DO NOT have Applecare. I would of course be honest about what happened to the phone.

Thank you!

I believe out of warranty repairs are about $220.

On occasion, they may allow you to buy AppleCare+ that day for $99 and use one of the two 'events' for another $50.

Lastly, you may get lucky (unlikely, but not impossible) and get a free replacement.

Either way, consider AppleCare+ in case this happens again.
