Any lineups in U.S Apple Stores?

I am in New York, and just decided to sell my Galaxy s3 on craigslist. My opinion, I just hated the phone, and I missed the apps and itunes sync with it. So I am going back to iPhone probably going to buy it around Friday or Saturday. I am afraid since Christmas is soon that there might be huge lines (I live right next to the 5th avenue apple store). Should I set it for pick-up, order it, or just go to the store and buy it?

I suggest pick up so you are guaranteed stock when u arrive. Often times the apple store in my area was not super busy when I went there, but they were out of stock of the color/size/model of the device

I mean nearly 6 blocks away, I'm busy the whole week and checking if their is a line at a store is not a good way to spend my rare free time.
