Preview: prevent pics from showing in recent history?

I like that Preview keeps track of my recently opened pdf files, but don't need it to keep track of images, or anything else for that matter. is there a way to prevent Preview from logging recent image views? This is in 10.8, btw.

Nope. Just don't look at pics on the computer that you don't want someone else to know you were looking at.

Found this but haven't tested it. The post is from 2005 so may not apply to Mountain Lion but its worth a try.
