"Mac-mini" or "Mini mac" ? This really bothers me.

It bothers me that they call these computers mac-mini instead of mini-mac.
Is there a logical reason for this?

My brain does not like to use this term "mac-mini"

Am I the only one concerned with this?

The correct term is "Mac mini".

Ditto (yes)... Mac Pro, Mac Mini, Macbook Air, Macbook Pro. The only "Mac" that the first syllable isn't Mac, is the iMac....

iPad and iPad MINI (not Mini iPad). "you are saying it wrong...."

It's not a matter of "teaming up against you". You're just bothered by an extremely trivial matter.

What difference does it make? Call it whatever you want. Call it "Ralph" if you want to. There are far more important things in life to worry about, such as the flavor of postage stamps, how many ants it takes to carry an iPhone, why "blue" is called "blue" and whether or not Pat Paulsen's ghost will run for president in the next election.

As the Mac mini has been around almost 8 years now, I doubt it.

I think they have one, to many Minis. Sometimes, in short I'll say I have a Mini but that can also mean an iPad so I have to say Mac Mini. No matter what we call it, it works great!

My 13 year old daughter made a comment about it the other day. I forget how she put it but I took it as her saying that it didn't do much because it's so small. I pointed out that it's much faster than the big box that's next to my desk (5 year old Dell).

You should really consider the portability of the Mini. For example I work from home in my spare bedroom. Sometimes I may want to work in my bedroom so it is very easy to just grab it and work in the bedroom. If I go to the office I already have dual monitors there. So I may take it with me to the office. Take to church or school. The idea is very interesting, anywhere you have a screen you could use the mini. Of course a rMBP is a better choice. And I know this is crazy for most folks, but it is an viable option. I wanted to point out. Your needs may vary.

No, if you call it Mini Mac you get sued by M because they have the Big Mac and be a different company; from what I REMember they also sell pie; I really like that one too.

Now I continue listen music on my "iTouch"

Considering how much time and effort Apple puts into naming its products, I cannot credit that statement.

I remember a longish thread here (from around the launch of the 1st gen iPad) about the naming of the device.

Still, I have to agree with the majority here - maybe the name's grown on me.

Mac is a product line, in which Mini is a specific series of. It's no different to how most other consumer products are named.

Now "iMac" is an anomaly.

Mac = product line
Mini = variant

Naming it that way is entirely logical and consistent with the rest of the lineup (apart from the iMac of course, which should IMHO have the I dropped from it's name).
