I have access to some files which download as .rar. VLC doesn't open them. Any clues please?

I use RAR Expander for decompressing RAR files.

RAR is a file compression format, like ZIP.

There are lots of free utilities to uncompress RAR files for Mac. I use "The Unarchiver", available in the Mac App Store.

If you don't have an unarchiving utility for RAR files, then your computer may not recognize the file type. You should accept the advice to download and install Stuffit Expander or The Unarchiver.

I personally have The Unarchiver - https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/the-...25424353?mt=12

Not sure if you've already picked one, just want to give it more publicity.
