Base model to Top end Overkill

I actually ordered a refurb 15" mbpr then cancelled, i have a late 27" 09 3.0gh core 2 duo 16gb ram and 1 TB HD that the heat is just killing me. Maybe get a 13" mbpr later in the year.

I can do a trade in at my local reseller/service shop which i prefer to deal with but they only have 2 models base and top end. I am not a power user but that could change and would like to get 5 years from this one. The difference in the 2 is $900 which would be about the trade in. I want the fusion so base with fusion from Apple makes it $600 difference.
Just not sure as i have had a base model for 3 years if another base would get me out of trouble????

3.2GHz quad-core Intel Core i5
Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
8GB (two 4GB) memory
1TB hard drive1
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX with 1GB

or

3.4GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.9GHz
8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x4GB
3TB Fusion Drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX 2GB GDDR5

Screw Apple as i sit here in front of my fng heater in the sub tropics. why should i have to drop 3k just cause they can't make 1 product in the last 3 years that doesn't produce heat, mbpr hot, iPad 3 hot, imac hot, iphone 5.
iPad mini with non retina that's it. Or 3 years later a iMac.

HOPELESS

lol, I will just go and pour another glass of red and let you know?

back now, got a response after 4 hours thats a start. Guess the question is, is the extra 1k now for future use worth it or just go a base model like i have now?

Spend the extra money if you can afford it. If you have to ask the question then it suggests that maybe you should stick to the base model...
