Simple question, if you were waiting for the release of the new iMac but have not purchased one, what was the primary reason for not buying? Myself the issue is I am waiting to see if they will offer more SSD options. I used the Apple feedback form to express my concern on their site.

Whats yours?

Its just too damned expensive for the hardware inside. I don't care that much for its looks to dish out 2g's for those specs.

I'm tempted by the 27" model, but will wait to they are more readily available before buying. Still not convinced about the glossy screen, but I know it's much better than the old one (seen a new 21 next to an old 27 model and it looks vastly improved).

The previous iMac 27" systems were hard enough to upgrade. These are even worse. I didn't like the rmbp either and bought a 2011 model. It looks like I will need to find a decent 2011 model iMac too. Hopefully in 3 years there will be some other options from apple.

Cheers,

Pricing options: the 21,5" iMac with Fusion Drive costs €2,000 where I live, which I find is just way more than I wish to spend in order to get this specific feature.

Fear of issues: in 2009 I briefly had two 20-inch iMacs (my first Macs in 15 years at the time). Both had issues and had to go back.

User-Type: I think, deep-down, I may just be a laptop person.

There's no 24" option and I can not connect the Thunderbolt to my Mini display port (MBP 2009)

i originally had the 27 inch preordered but decided to save nearly 600.00 ,and ordered a 2011 27 inch high end. will probably order the 2nd or 3 rd generation New iMac. This is our first iMac.

Haswell is a snoozefest for desktops, and the superdrive is never coming back. So when the $/GB on SSDs improves, what do you plan to purchase?

I bought a 2009 27" and had issues with the screen ghosting and that grey stuff forming. Great computer, but for $2000 had too many issues. I'll be waiting for a revision.

Canada Eh
Got sick of waiting and got my MacBook Pro (It was pretty much a coin toss between the two anyway).

Really liking the MacBook BTW :)
