Hdmi adaptor work for 4 or not?

Some of the reviews on the apple site say that this cable doesn't work with iPhone 4. But the product description says it does. I'm confused.

It works in the same way the vga adapter does. It will output certain video, photos and powerpoint files. It won't output the home screen.
