New Mac Mini won't display on RCA Plasma TV Model # 42PA30RQ

Can anyone help me to get my new computer working on my TV? I'm borrowing a friend's monitor, but I was intending to use my new computer with the tv. I have the resolution scaled to 1024 x 768 and at 60 hz and it still won't work. Tv keeps saying "unsupport". Do I need a new HDMI cable? It works with everything else. I think its not working because I can't scale down to "thousands of colors" (new OSX doesn't have that option) and I'm just out of luck. THAT would REALLY stink. Anyway to get this thing working on my TV? Heeeeeelp. Thank you.
