Verizon iPhone unlocked?

I heard the Verizon iPhone 5 was supposed to be unlocked out of the box, but when I check my IMEI online it says that it's locked. What gives???

Don't worry about those imei sites.
Most of them are off.
All verizon i5's are fully unlocked for gsm use.

That's because cdma bands are locked. GSM bands are unlocked. So technically, it is locked.

If you buy it full price then yes.
If on contract it's locked to AT&T till the agreement is up.
The verizon i5 even if its on contract it's fully unlocked for gsm use.
