For an early christmas gift, my wife bought me a new 750gb hard drive to replace my older 120gb hard drive in my Macbook Unibody 2.0 GHZ. I have been searching all over trying to find the easiest way to re-install mac 10.7.5 lion onto the new drive. I downloaded the lion recovery assistant and made a bootable usb drive. Once I put the new drive in, do I boot from the USB drive and then install it on the new one or am I missing something else?

You'll need to partition the new hard drive once you boot from the usb installer. Look for the utilities menu item and use disk utility for make a partition (1), it will format the drive.

Remember to zap the PRAM before installing. I had trouble installing OS 10.8 on a new drive the last time and that fixed it.
