Blinking red light by front camera left of speaker

Hello I just got my iPhone 5 for x mas (1st iPhone) and I'm just wondering what that is and why it's blinking at me. I have only noticed till just now.

It's the proximity sensor and also it's looking at your soul so be very afraid lol

Great eyes! Most people can't see the infrared proximity sensor. It shuts off the display when you are talking on the phone.....

Yep, most people can't see it and, if they do, they must be really, really looking for it.
