TwelveSouth Releases BookBook Travel Journal to Carry An iPad and Lots of Stuff

Adding to its growing BookBook line of products, TwelveSouth today announced its new Travel Journal, a unified iPad and accessory carrying case.

The Travel Journal is designed to carry an iPad, power adapter, cables, head phones, and more, using a collection of pockets and adjustable bands to organize and protect items, all inside a large BookBook-style case.

Quote:
BookBook Travel Journal looks like a vintage book, but it's really a dapper, hardback leather case designed to hold your iPad and the essential accessories that go with it. Inside you'll find a collection of pockets and adjustable bands that neatly organize and protect items like your power adapter, cables, USB drives, stylus, mouse, earbuds or high-end headphones. Say bye-bye to your backpack. Everything you need for the road fits inside BookBook Travel Journal.
The Travel Journal uses two hardback book covers and a rigid spine to protect the contents, with the vintage book look to discourage theft. BookBook Travel Journal is compatible with all models of iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad and is available from TwelveSouth's website for $99.99.

I like the idea, but wow that thing is thick. If I am going with just my iPad I don't want to be caring a book the size of the Gutenberg Bible. Plus I would want it to still fit in my laptop bag so I could have a separate pull-out organizer for small items, but again, too thick.

Looks nice, but at $100 I'm out.
When cases/bags cost approaches 30%+ of device cost I stop reading

Looks nice. But the price tag and size are both too much.

I like twelevesouths iPad mini/iPhone 5 aluminum stand. But I'm with the rest of you,100.00 seems a bit pricey

That rigid spine doesn't seem like a comfortable carrying solution to me.

and at those prices I'd rather go with one of the tablet solutions from SFbags. (I'm not affiliated either way.)

Spend even more money and go full on leather

or go light and cheap.

I like the idea. I can put add my Bose headphones in the same compartment as my iPad/IPOD(ditch the Bose case). Everything needed for travel in one place without digging for cords, etc., at the bottom of my carry bag. Not cheap but it will be worth its price as soon as I step on plane. Good Idea. Yes, I'll purchase one.

BookBook should be thin.

I absolutely love my iPad Mini BookBook, but the problem with this one is you won't always want to carry the added bulk of your headphones, which you're stuck doing (or taking the iPad in & out of the case). Maybe if they made the headphone case a separate BookBook that velcroed to the iPad part, looking like two books sandwiched together? Eh.

I wish they would fix the BookBook for iPhone 5... the case has destroyed my phones screen. They should have stuck with the 4/4S design, it was significantly better.

And it didn't make a dent in the build quality from the original either.

Why did the case destroy your screen? I had the BookBook for iPhone 4S, and now have one for the iPhone 5S, so I have a vested interest in knowing.

What exactly was the problem in your situation?

@ Rossatron: I like a lot of TwelveSouth stuff, but in this case, I'm with RightMACatU; but it's your money, value is in the eye of the beholder.

Depending on what you're saying, I agree.

A good, well-made bag can last years beyond the lifetime of the devices which it carries. I don't now how well the 12 South products hold up over time, but if it holds up well, it could easily be worth the price of admission.

I keep my BookBook in my pocket most of the time. The corners of my debit cards have scratched the top portion of my screen, and the stitching around the plastic window has "polished" where it rests on my screen. I would probably recommend a screen protector.

The leather has also started coming away at the plastic hole for the camera.

Thanks for the expansion.. I can see where the bank cards could do that. I'm getting a hint of it now, but it wipes clean with a damp cloth.

I've had the BookBook for iPhone 4 since it came out, and continue to use it with an iPhone 4s. The case finally started coming apart at the stitches a couple of months ago, but I feel I definitely got my money's worth.

Well you aren't at 30% of the device cost if you are carrying around the iPad plus those headphones...

Either way, not what I'm looking for!
