iMac 2012 late HDD using SATA2?

not that bad
theoretically no hdd need more than sata2.
but nowadays new hdd will be with sata3
is that mean apple is using relatively old hdd?

Do you have the iMac 21,5"?

My 27" is 6 Gigabit, which is SATA 3

i'm 27" BTO max out CPU & GPU with 1TB fusion?
is yours fusion drive?

apple is using this model for 1TB hdd

That's a load off! I am happy it is SATA 6Gb/s.

It is possible for traditional HDD to breach SATA 3Gb/s speeds in the next 5 years but the question is will there still be demand for HDDs by then?

hdd will be replace by SSD
so the answer is no.

but 3Gb is the max capability.
it's lucky if there is 80% of speed in reality.
like usb, you wont have 6GB/s on 3.0 either.

so i think it better to have sata3 rather than sata2.

The port is SATA III. The hard drive is SATA II. A single mechanical hard drive does not require SATA III, because it cannot saturate a SATA II connection.
