Cannot move file to external hard drive

Hello,

I am trying to free up space by moving large files and collections to an external hard drive.

I have an iPhoto Library ~42 GB in size and ~46 GB of space on a partition in the external hard drive. When I try to copy the iPhoto Library over, I get the message that there is not enough free space.

Has anyone resolved this issue before? Thanks.

Free up some space on the external drive. The numbers regarding file size and space available don't always agree.
