As we all know, 3G/LTE drains battery faster than WiFi

Would it still drain battery faster if I'm already connected to a strong WiFi and left my Cellular Data on?
In comparison to being connected to WiFi with Cellular Data off

and I just found out recently that the telco can control if you get a 3G switch on the iPhone5?
I was demonstrated on an iPhone 5, iOS 6.0.2
First a sim card which only shows ONE switch (combination of 3G & Cellular data switch), and another sim card shows two separate switches

If you are on wifi, you will use wifi for data, not 3G or LTE. I leave both on all the time, and do not notice any significant battery drain.

For this very reason, I'm always skeptical so I turn off cellular data whenever I'm in a wifi area. When I leave, I turn it back on.:)
