I want to get the smart cover and also something that protects the back and sides. Is there a slim case that works with the smart cover for the iPad mini? I mainly need protection from scratches and want the smart cover for it's stand features.

Most around these parts prefer the SwitchEasy CoverBuddy. I've tested it myself and it works as advertised.

There's also a big thread in the iPad Accessories section discussing different types of cases.
