Doesn't work at least with Home Premium version. Bootcamp assistant says 2012 iMac only supports 64bit installations. Bummer. Stupid legacy work programs only support 32bit.

Any suggestions?

Confirmed. Does not work for any 32bit versions of Windows 7. I don't understand why? All the 2011 had full support for both 32 and 64 bit.

Update, installed Parallels 8. No problem installing Windows 32bit through VM. Everything is up and running fine.

I understand you're using this to run your legacy programs, but how would Parallels work when using windows to run certain video games?

Not as good as running native bootcamp. You have to share VRAM and I think you're going to take a bit of a hit on fps. This will be an issue with latest games. On older games, probably should be fine but I would probably still use bootcamp for gaming.
