I would prefer to buy online from AT&T, as it's easier (for me) to get a FAN discount that way. I can also order Applecare+ along with the purchase.

My question is regarding any potential return for a problem. With A+ can I return the phone directly to Apple for a replacement or does it have to go to AT&T? I would prefer to deal with Apple after purchase.

I'm not looking for a discussion on FAN discounts. I just want to know whether purchasing A+ from AT&T when I buy a phone allows me to do any returns/replacements directly to Apple.

Thanks!

At the iPhone hacks section.
Yes, every warranty repair or replacement is handled by Apple.
That's the manufacturer, you dont need to go to the wireless provider for that.
And if there's any issues Apple only handles all Applecare and Applecare Plus exchanges and replacements.
