Help with apple TV to hook up to regular TV

I just bought my daughter an apple TV for Christmas. The problem is her TV has only a VGA port not an HDMI one. It is a flat screen but older model. Can I buy a HDMI to VGA cable that will work with this? or do I need to get a converter box and hook up two cables. One for the apple tv and the other for the regular tv.

I believe the only way you're going to get video and audio to the TV is by using this.

This is under the assumption your audio is also being converted.

The model I have been using for about 2 years isn't available on amazon anymore but here is one just like it.

Search for composite to HDMI converters for others. I use it on the main TV in the house due to the location of the TV. It is on everyday at least a few hours a day.
