Remapping Keys
Hello
i am on a Macbook Pro 10.6.8 and my i key does not work. i have to copy and paste it any time that i want to use it. i have tried to find a way to be able to remap the i key with ` or the caps lock key but can not find a way that allows me to do so... if anyone can help that would make my day. Cheers! |

The easiest solution would be to use the text replacement feature (System Preferences > Language & Text, at least in 10.8). Downsides are that you would have to press space or something similar after typing the ` character in order for the substitution to take place, and that it would only work in applications using OS X's text handling (not Firefox, not Adobe, possibly not MS)
A better way would be to create your own keyboard layout. This page is probably a good starting point: http://hints.macworld.com/article.ph...40517070817474 |
