I found a few websites that offered Mountain Lion downloads for free. Are these downloads legit and safe to use?

We don't discuss piracy here. It's 20 bucks. Why not buy it?

Not legit. The only official source for OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is the Mac App Store (MAS), and 20 USD is not that much for an OS.

Safe maybe but not legitimate for sure.
