Westell 7500? Need info on what modem to buy.

I use Centurylink for phone/internet, more by necessity than choice (although their customer service has improved lately... if only slightly), they charge me about $5 a month to "rent" a modem. I'd like to buy one, but my knowledge on the subject is pretty slim. I was recommended the Westell 7500. Do any of you agree/disagree with this recommendation? Are pretty much all modems compatible on a mac or are there specific mac/windows modems?

Right now I'm only running 1.5mbps but I might upgrade in the future, probably not more than 10mbps. If that helps. Thanks!
