So I recently got an Iphone 4 off of my friend, who got it off ebay and didnt want it so he gave it to me.

*it has no sim card

I hook it into itunes and update it with its current ISO 6.0.1 and I get an error -1

I do the same thing in DFU mode and still get error -1

Can anybody help please?

Well, hopefully braddick will let us know what he tried exactly, so you don't need to do it all over again. But I suspect you'll have to get into inside your phone and start testing components.

Wish I could help, but I just mailed the winner of my eBay auction his iPhone4 yesterday so the timeline is impossible as for being the same iPhone.

I can give you a shortcut though:
Error -1 is a hardware issue and I honestly think there is very little if anything you can do on your end to get it back up and running again.

Perhaps I missed a YouTube video or two, but that was my (lengthy) conclusion.

Better luck to you!

Apple offered me that, but on a Sprint iPhone4 8GB the $160. charge Apple wants sort of exceeds the value (when you couple in what the broken iPhone could be sold for).

Now, if it was AT&T and a 16GB (or better) model, that would make more sense.
