iTunes (Windows) - Automatically Download Purchases?

Does anyone have any experience configuring iTunes under Windows to automatically download iTunes Store Purchases (TV Shows in particular)?

iTunes on my Windows PC does not appear to be automatically downloading TV shows purchases on Apple TV or my iPad.

Reading this article on the Apple Support site, it seems like it is not possible on the Windows version of iTunes:

On a Windows computer, if you have Automatic Downloads enabled, you will need to choose Store > Check for Available Downloads from the Store menu in iTunes for your purchases to download.

Clicking Store > Check for Available Downloads isn't exactly what I would call an "Automatic Download"...:(
