Geotagging on Wifi iPad Mini??
Got my Ipad Mini for Christmas and absolutely love it.
But I have a query, I was out the other night and I decided to take a photo, thinking nothing of it today I was checking "places" in my photo album and it had the exact location of where the photo was taken. I was in a place with no wifi and I had it switched off regardless. Does any one know how the mini knew the location of the photo without an internet connection? Mark... Like i said in my original post, I have taken photos on my ipad mini without being connected to wifi and when you go to places in your photo album, it knows the exact location the photo was taken.

Try again, without GPS it does not know the exact location the photo was taken.

Even with wifi only a rough geotagging works. How exactly I also don't fully understand; the MAC adresses are involved. My home wifi only iPad3 shows exact where I live. I really don't like and remove all geotags before posting to Facebook.
Some article I just found might start to help to understand. http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/...ocator-Secrets http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/news/article.php/3723366 And finally skynet, I mean skyhook http://www.skyhookwireless.com/
