Pro-gun advocate Alex Jones rants at Piers Morgan in studio ‘debate’
This guy seems unstable. Is his attitude that of a typical gun owner?

I'll give Jones this – very few people share airtime with Piers Morgan and end up looking like the bigger pillock. It's quite the achievement.

Alex Jones does seem very radical indeed, but my guess is that's exactly why Morgan invited him. When confronted with actual data and studies, he calls people ignorant, stupid and whatnot for not agreeing that "less guns = less violence" despite what studies show.
He doesn't want to decrease the violence in society, he's too caught up in trying to not be wrong in his belief that a reduction in the number of guns would be The Big Win. I liked him before this whole gun control thing started, after that he just plummeted in my eyes. Ew. (I'm not interested in carrying guns, I don't care if guns are legal or not, but I do recognise the fact that there is nothing supporting the claim that a society becomes more safe by imposing tougher gun laws and I would like the debate to be about how to make the society safer instead of trying to find a scapegoat.) |

Does anyone here honestly believe Alex Jones should be allowed to own a gun? The guy's clearly mentally insane.

Wow, that was ... Interessting ... He would be a good example to have a biannual review process on gun holder permissions; and get it refused next round. Not a good ambassador for his side of the opinions.

Holy cr*p.
![]() But this does underline that many in the US believe the 2nd amendment is a part of checks and balances on the government. Until we can reassure people who have that view, the situation won't change. And remember, guns don't kill, bullets do.....

I enjoyed that interview. I worry about Alex Jones, if he's always like this he will die of a stroke or heart attack soon. Holy crap!

The events of 200 years ago still rankle, don't they?! And people say the Palestinians should just forget about what happened yesterday and move on...

I doubt anything will come of the current efforts to regulate guns. It's too engrained in US society. I once stayed in a dodgy part of Pheonix and across from the hotel was a 24/7 drive-thru liquor store and next to it was a 24/7 drive-thru ammo store. Bob's beer-n-bullets.... The store clerks served their customers through bullet-proof booths like those used at drive-thru banks. It was truly weird - even from somebody who grew up in the US south.

This was always a stange concept for me, especially the attitude of some of our American cousins towards us over here. A few years back I was in a bar in Australia, taking about guns to what I thought was a fairly average and intelligent guy from the US. I explained that most police officers in the UK do not carry firearms and he felt this was crazy. I asked why he thought mass gun ownership was felt by many people to be such a good thing and his response was basically 'in case you ****ing British try and take back our country'. Followed by 'my ancestors fought against yours'. I explained that they did not, as we had the same ancestors, but he did not understand this basic historical fact. In fact he did not even know when his family (British surname) moved to America. This is not the first time I have heard this, and it seems this is Alex Jones's opinion too. He seems to really hate us British people, and uses his poorly educated and xenophobic views frequently in his defence of gun ownership. This is odd, because Jones is a traditional Welsh name, as is mine, so we have the same ancestry. In fact I have traced my family tree and I know I have family that fought in the War of Independence and have many relatives all over the US. The war for independence was fought by british people and their families, as did many other Scots, Irish, German, French, etc, settlers against a particular British government and their forces, not the British people, most who think the conlonies wining the wars was a great thing indeed. So why the likes of Alex Jones feels so threatened by an English accent, and rips into people from this country so frequently, is both historically ignorant and completely illogical. But then the guy is proper mental I guess.

In what alternate reality is there even a remote chance of the British taking back the US?
And secondly, in the event of a British Invasion that did not involve The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and Hermans Hermits, I'm pretty sure the military could handle it without the help of some armed citizens. The righties want virtually limitless funding for the largest military in the Western world, with bigger and more destructive weapons, but when it comes time to defend our country, they'd rather leave it up to some yokels with a small armory stashed under their bed.

So you don't think less guns = less gun violence? You don't think less assault weapons = less mass shooting deaths? I say you're wrong.
