The iPhone screen will eventually become this size sooner or later

Otherwise, Apple will have to change the size of the app icons.

I don't think so. That looks like the first generation galaxy note to me!

Maybe for iPhone 9 they'll do something creative like add toggles or something instead of just another row of icons!

That looks "too wide" to me.

I like the 5 the way it is, but IF they were going to go bigger, they just need to widen the screen a little.

I still really like the 4.3 inch screen. Especially liked the Droid X screen size.

I do not mind wideing it a little, but that is "taking the cake".

Yes, because altering the column spacing is technically impossible.

I'd prefer they keep the screen the same size as it is now on the 5 and decrease the length of the actual device to match the 4s.

size of iPhone 6

I hope it gets to a screen size of at least 5 inches or 5.8. That would be uber cool

I think it's going to be a long time before we see any of that. They don't want to have to worry about fragmentation like android has. Granted android has a lot more than just screen size to worry about, but even on iOS, it's taken some developers a really long time to upgrade their apps to support the 5.... You have the iphone 5, iphone 3/3gs/4/4s, the ipad mini, and the ipad 1/2/3/4th gen... so you have 4 different resolutions to support. Keep adding them in there and you're going to start having issues, and I think that Apple is trying to avoid that.

After trying a handful of Android phones, it looks like my ideal size is 4.5-5 inches. Only thing that has held me back from Androids so far is the sub-par build quality using plastics and battery doors that creak, along with the lag/choppiness with them - the exact experience I had with the Galaxy S2. The only android phone I've tried so far that doesn't have choppiness was the Note 2, but that was too large for me... and had the cheap feeling.

Looking forward to the phones unveiled at CES 2013 - especially the Sony Xperia Z. Seems like the perfect phone for me... a light elegant skin that isn't too off from vanilla Jelly Bean and a solid construction using aluminum and glass.

That being said, people like my mother and father will still stick to iOS simply because it works. No need to tweak stuff here and there, it just works and that's the main driving point of iOS as I see it. It's just getting a little stale for me after staying with iOS for so long.

480x320, 960x640, 1024x768, 1134x640, and 2048x1536. Five actually.

Apple is doing everything it can to keep the resolutions easy to deal with - hence why the retina iPad is twice the resolution of the iPad 2/mini and the iPhone 5 simply adds height. easier to up by a factor if 2 or add some height than re-write for an entirely different res....

Which is why the retina mini is a challenge - either they pack an insane amount of pixels into that thing (2048x1536 in a 7.9" screen ) or make it a pain on devs and add more fragmentation.

EDIT: Actually, using the 2048x1536 screen in the mini would only yield a ppi of 324....not really that insane. Awesome for a 7.9" tablet, but not the 400+ I originally thought.

As a professional designer i find this photoshop offensive. Lol.

They could at least extended the left side where the screen reflection comes across the screen.

Ehh but two sets of those (480x320/960x640 and 1024x768/2048x1536) are simple doublings....meaning an app written for one could easily be configured to work with both.

I like it.

GS3 is the original iPhone 5 Prototype. iPhone 6 or whatever it's called will eventually go to 4.8 inch.

Sammy stole that to bring us the GS3. But took insider knowledge to do it.

Either way, I will go back to iPhone when it becomes bigger/wider. For now I love my GS3.
