I just got a fully loaded late 2012 mini to supplement my 2010 MBA. The mini is technically superior, but it takes approximately 10 seconds to wake up from sleep. My MBA wakes up instantly. Both have an SSD, and my mini has 16GB ram, so why does it take longer than my MBA to wake up?

the ram slows it down. also do you have any devices attached? for one you have a monitor. the external monitor will always take more time for a machine to detect it. the path from an internal screen such as a macbook air to the cpu is lees complicated. Also the external monitor you use has a dvi a vga a hdmi 1 2 3 connections are more complex for the mini to see and understand.
