sleep waking

when i wake up macbook pro from sleep, the screen turns completely white, keyboard and trackpad is unresponsive, shows some kind of progress bar with white background. is this normal, or something messed up?
Normal, the computer is in a "deep" (not sure what the technical term is) sleep, you'll get this if you run out of battery and then reconnect to a power source.
