My last several Mac computers have all had direct audio input jacks which I've always used for wave capture, as I have recorded everything from classic vinyl, cassette, and AM broadcasts using PEAK (which I still use as long as their legacy license servers remain on line!). Laugh if you must, but there's still a large amount of media out there that needs to be carefully transferred digitally!
Well, I've decided to replace my 2006 Mac Pro and have discovered that along with optical drives, it would appear that the dedicated audio inputs have disappeared as well (except on the Mini and current (way too expensive) Mac Pro versions, both not in consideration at this point).
While I've used Griffin's iMic USB solution in the past, is there anything else out there? What have you guys been using when recording stuff?
(Considering either a maxed-out iMac or MBA)
