IMac Backup

I have an Imac with Lion OS

I backup into a Time Capsule,

I been thinking if the Time Capsule (4Yrs Old) goes down how will I recover and restore the Imac

What is the best way to backup my Imac with an external HD

Thanks

You could use CarbonCopyCloner (version 3.4.7 is still free and works with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion) or SuperDuper! to clone the iMac's internal HDD to a properly formatted external USB 2.0/3.0 HDD.
That way you have a bootable backup and can easily restore from it, even faster than from a Time Capsule or Time Machine HDD.
How to format a new HDD to install Mac OS X onto (or make a bootable copy onto)

You can use the same, included Time Machine software with an external disk just like you are now with the Time Capsule.

I back up with Time Machine to one external hard drive and with CarbonCopyCloner to another external drive.
