Assigning photos/pictures to contacts problem!

Having finally managed to find out how you assign pictures or photos from iPhoto to contacts. I am finding that after quite a few trial attempts that the window that shows 'default' ' Recent' and 'camera' Has numerous copies of the same image!
I had a default image for myself in contacts of a lightning bolt on purple background (from default pictures)But now there are 4 or 5 of the same in 'recent' !
Is there any way to delete these duplicates? As I have tried to drag them to trash bin and right click but no luck!!

Any advice would be much appreciated.

OK I have it sorted now!!

I just highlight the picture in blue and delete wih the delete key on keyboard. Simples!!
