I have been searching around for the difference between these two options when ripping a blu-ray disc. To my understanding, MakeMKV essentially decrypts and saves an exact copy of the disc for re-encoding any way you choose. So what's the difference by selecting the backup option?

You get full menus, extra's, etc. put into an mkv file.
