MakeMKV: Backup vs. Decrypt (Save to Disc)

I have been searching around for the difference between these two options when ripping a blu-ray disc. To my understanding, MakeMKV essentially decrypts and saves an exact copy of the disc for re-encoding any way you choose. So what's the difference by selecting the backup option?
