ready to kill the messages app

The messages app refuses to stay connected to anything. I constantly hear it reconnecting, and at some point, flat out refusing to connect at all.

To troubleshoot, I disabled all accounts but Facebook (jabber) and imessage. Closing the window disconnects everything and closes the app. I can sometimes reconnect from the icon next to the OSX clock, but the connection is dropped over and over.

What am I supposed to try now?

Its just not a great app at this point. Mine always has sync issues and thats on both my imac and macbook. But the ipad and iphone versions seem fine. I also noticed on my imac that there is a memory leak issue that crops up every so often. It will slow my entire machine down to a crawl unless i force quit iMessages. IMO it best to just not use it at this point and grab your phone or ipad if its nearby to send messages.
