Can adult content go on the App Store? If so, just change the rating for this. I remember they pulled iBoobs or something a long time ago, and I don't know if it's allowed now.

Totally agree with you, flickr is full of nude pics, sometimes pretty disgusting.

What's wrong with children seeing nude pictures in the first place? You can't hide the fact that Santa doesn't exist, and the same way you can't hide the fact that people aren't born with clothes on. Sure, pornography might be going too far, but you can't expect children to grow up and not know what a naked person looks like. It will just shock them even more if they find out late, and that's why people end up being prudes and all that stuff.

They should build a new Internet that's just like this one except only for apple products and under the condition that apple monitors and censors everything on it. And you can only use it on wifi for the first year.

Edit: and for the 5S only while we the users test it in its beta stage.

Usually there is more to the story than a one sided argument. It may be apple overreaching but it can also be legitimate problems or mistakes from 500px. Ill withhold judgment until more facts are presented.

I will never understand the US hypocrisy regarding nudity, be it artistic or x-rated.

Take gaming as an example: Shoot people in the head, 12 year age rating. Exploding heads, maybe 15. One small nipple shown - 18 years. It's really ridiculous.

Nope. Sometimes I think Apple is run my mormons or something, because they really don't like nudity or gaming.

Sounds like a mistake that can be fixed simply by a re-review on Apple's end. A human made the wrong call, but it sounds like other humans at Apple have made the right call many times for many apps in the same boat.

(I'm assuming 500px didn't simply accidentally submit the wrong age-bracket for the app.)

All their evil plot to eventually cut out more of Google's services...

Just think - no more Google Search - you can see nudies
No more blogger app - you can see nudies
No more picasa - you can see nudies
No more Google drive - you might be storing your own porn
No more Chrome - you might see nudies
No more Gmail - you might see boobies

Flickr should be rated 17+ in the app store so it can be blocked on children's devices without blocking every other "12+" app.

You missed the point. Apple is not looking to block you from getting anything. If the developer will not agree to a "17+" rating then they had to pull the version of the app that was rated "4+" age group. Parents cannot block an app rated as "4+" without blocking all such apps. It is either that or prevent your kid from installing any apps on the device whatsoever. Many parents like to let their kids install age-appropriate stuff from the app store, but the device can only know it is "age-appropriate" if the app is rated correctly.

I can actually restrict Safari on my kids' devices (and I do). If an app is rated as "4+" and I allow my kids to install apps, then they can get easy access to it and inadvertently (or purposely) view porn.

The 500px app should return to the App Store with a 17+ rating and should get a huge spike in popularity thanks to all this free publicity.

Incidentally, Apple is doing a poor job rating their apps for age-appropriateness in this area. Flickr is currently rated 12+, YouTube is rated 12+ and Flipboard is rated 4+. All of these apps should be 17+ (same as Chrome and Skyfire). In fact YouTube is one of the worst because it actually suggests porn for your to watch when you watch something G-Rated.

Nudes in the App store

A search for "dani olivier" in the app store will turn up bunch of books with nothing but nude photography, none of which have the slightest artistic value.
Or just go here:

Shooting someone in the head would make a game rated "T" for 13+. Exploding heads might not even be legal in video games due to violence limits, but if they are, it's 17+.

You can't come across nude photos using Safari unless you're either looking for them or searching certain things that are actually euphemisms.

My guess is that some parent complained to Apple about this app, and they pulled it even though Flickr and other apps might also show nude photos.

Actually, come to think of it, all social networking apps could have nudity in their private photos. Ban Facebook.

I miss the old days when Apple repeatedly shot itself in the foot with app rejections. If Apple rejects this app because it is possible to view artistic nudes, then how does it justify supplying an app that enables one to view hard core pornography, including bestiality and pedophilia? You know, that portal to depravity called "Safari"?

I am glad that Apple is once again making itself a laughing stock, because that seems to be the main way for them to learn what policies make sense, and which ones don't. I thought they learned at least SOMETHING with the flack they got from banning the work of a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist, but seemingly, they need reminding again.

This fiasco will be good for Apple in the long run.

This must also be one of the reasons Apple won't make a phone with a larger screen. They're afraid of people seeing MORE nudity.

Is Safari rated 17+? Can it be removed completely from a toddler's iGadget?
