Problem with Notebook Layout Word '08

I've previously used the notebook layout in Microsoft Word '08 on my Macbook Pro, but recently every time I open choose it as a layout, my Word shuts down completely and closes out. When I choose any other layouts, it works fine. The only problem is with the notebook layout. I'd really like to take notes so if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them!
