my 12 year old son has an iPhone 4s that he mainly uses as an ipod to play games etc. He can use free text/call apps when at home for wifi, but he does not have service on the phone.

That being said, he has been bugging me everyday for a while now to upgrade it to iOS6. I guess there are some cool updates that he wants that he doesnt have?

That being said, i looked online and couldnt find any clear cut answers. is this possible to do it untethered? if so, is it as simple as redsnow or something? please help, thanks!

There is no jailbreak on iOS 6 for the 4S at the moment, but stick around and read the forum, about 3 threads at the impending release of a jailbreak.
