I'm not talking about regular leave.

I suppose no male pilots, with millions of dollars of training spent on them, have to take leave for illness or family emergency or maybe he even decides he doesn't want to be a pilot.

I don't believe they're out for a year but I just don't know..Again most of there women are career military, they have a 6 year commitment if the military paid for college and an additional 3 years the second they graduate from flight school. The military has them for at least 9 years if they fly. Officer careers tend to be longer than enlisted especially if they're getting promoted 28 to 30 years if the make it O-6. Women can be soldiers and mothers too just like they can have a career and be mothers too this is not an either or situation. A year or two of pay for a Captain or Major is a small price to pay for a content family, motivated soldier, and happy children.

My wife get three years paid (not at full salary) and she doesn't have to go to war for a year every other year..

My PSG and I were big on accountability of enlisted females to ensure they weren't "bartering".

Some of the stuff that happens during deployment is embarrassing.

I'm not disputing that there should be a family, just that doing it while you're supposed to be flying is a misallocation of resources.

I knew women in the AFROTC who comissioned as officers. The Air Force is much better off for having such outstanding officers, part-time or not. It would be a loss to the country if they chose a different career in order to have kids.

I think it's rare to find a "smarter" LT straight out of college. Hell, even CPT's are dumb.

I have nothing against Officers, but one thing that annoys me the most is they think just because they read a book on war strategies, that they actually know what to do. Remembering what a book says goes out the window when bullets start flying. I'm a firm believer that prior enlisted officers are better.

The problem with prior enlisted officers is they try to be NCO's instead of being officers
