How to disable scan for NetBoot Images?

Running a Mac Pro early 2008. Yesterday installed Mountain Lion 10.8.2 (previously Lion 10.7.5). Everything generally good except for unexpected repeated messages in console referring to NetBoot

This machine has always booted from local drive, never had anything to do with NetBoot.

Looking at Console from when the OS was installed I see this, which I believe was triggered when I opened System Preferences > Startup Disk for the first time (after installing a new OS I open each preference pane to see what has changed. I didn't click on or change anything in Startup Disk, simply moved on to the next pref pane.)

That last message has been repeating every three minutes ever since. From the output above, notice at ~ line 13 it said

I don't know why the system is searching for a NetBoot image nor understand what the warnings are trying to tell me. It's never used a NetBoot image and I have never sought one. Is this possibly related to new iCloud functionality?

I've hunted for details that would help me disable this scan for NetBoot. Found plenty of info on setting up NetBoot (now known as NetInstaller) on Mountain Lion Server, and a little bit about how clients boot over the net (pretty simple -- see a boot image, select it in Startup Disk prefs or after holding Option key at power-on), but no commands or prefs that enable/disable scans in the first place.

Interestingly, now whenever I open the Startup Disk pref pane, I get pretty much identical info as shown above, but that line about "Netboot rescan time interval set to 180 seconds" and the two warnings are not produced.

But of course the messages keep coming...

Suggestions?

FWIW, logging out of the user account and logging into an admin account caused the period scanning to halt.

Logging out of the admin account and back into the user account did NOT cause the scans to instantly resume.

But the moment I opened the Startup Disk pref pane (not clicking anything in it) the message

appeared in Console and the familiar messages followed.

Of some interest (to me, maybe nobody else!) is that when I opened Startup Disk prefs, none of the other messages appeared in Console. The message above is the only message associated with the event.

Knowing that the messages will stop next time I switch accounts, and who knows maybe permanently the next time I boot, I'm not going to dig into it further.

Just another one of those, "Huh, what's up with that?" moments that fades away...
