Hi guys,

Thinking about getting the new iMac 21.5 inch basic model, link here: http://store.apple.com/uk/configure/MD093B/A?

However im unsure whether to get a fusion drive or not, at an extra £200 is it really worth it? I work for an Apple Reseller company so I've been on the machines and love them but unsure about the fusion drive or any other Add ons. Also is it worth getting the basic model and is there really much difference between the basic and the next one up:

Cheers

the fusion is meh. I could write a lot about the fusion but the bottom line is apple should have put in a 250gb ssd not a 128gb ssd.

so it all depends if you are willing to use an external drive and not the fusion.

if you don't mind an external thunderbolt drive it will be better then a fusion performance wise .

as for the base iMac vs the better 21.5 the cpu and the gpu are better. If you want to game a bit get the better gpu.

The iMac is not one to go getting into later to change anything; what you buy us what you've got for the life of the machine, really.

You could go external with Thunderbolt, but that defeats the purpose of having an all-in-one.

I'd prob not buy an iMac anymore. Do you need a fulltime desktop machine?

If you can afford fusion and the next model up then get it.

Fusion makes a big difference for people who aren't into doing their own storage options. If you are a computer techie type and just want the thing to work, then you want fusion.

Fusion is only meh in relation to its price. Its real world usage is extremely good. All the reviews have been very impressed with Fusion. Even Anandtech was surprised by it.
